Material selection: 

1. First of all, I chose a finished bookcase instead of a whole-house customization. Whole-house customization usually uses synthetic materials, which are not as environmentally friendly as finished logs, and they can't be taken away when you move, and the location can't be changed.

2.There are many options for finished bookcases, such as pine, rubberwood, beech, oak, and ash. Considering the popularity of the log style, I chose beech wood. Pine and rubberwood were ruled out because they tend to look like rental style. Beech has a fine grain and hard wood for heavy books and is affordable.

Daily Cleaning: 

Regular cleaning with an electrostatic duster is easy and efficient. Although I considered glass doors to prevent dust, I chose not to install them because they are reflective and require extra care.
